August 8 (Friday) – Mass for Solemnity of St. Dominic & Vestition of Novices (Cincinnati, OH) – join us for St. Gertrude parish’s celebration of the Solemnity of St. Dominic at 11:30AM. Present at this Mass will be the new Dominican Novices (who are vested in the habit of our founder earlier that morning) and the senior novices together with the friars of St. Gertrude priory. August 9 (Saturday) – Mass of Solemn Profession (Washington DC) CLICK HERE – join the Dominicans in the Crypt Church of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception for the solemn profession “usque ad mortem” (until death) of 12 of our friars with a Mass at 10:30AM. The Mass is open to the public. For men considering a vocation, a reception follows at the Dominican House of Studies across the street, please RSVP to the Director of Vocations.
August 10 (Sunday) – High School Men’s Day Retreat (10:30AM-8:30PM) at St. Patrick Catholic church, 280 N. Grant Ave., Columbus, OH 43215. Fr. Benedict Croell, O.P., the vocations director for the Dominican Province of St. Joseph, will be leading the St. Patrick and St. Gertrude high school men on a day-long men’s retreat, outside high school men are welcome but must register online (CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS). The retreat begins with 10:30 a.m. Mass and includes an outing to Audubon Park for physical challenges and recreation time.
August 15 (Friday) – Mass of Simple Profession (Cincinnati, OH) CLICK HERE – After a year of novitiate our novices will make simple vows (temporary) during St. Gertrude Parish’s celebration of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary at 11:30AM on Friday, August 15, 2014. The newly professed will visit with the parish in a reception immediately following the Mass.
September 19-21 – Vocation Weekend #1 (Washington DC) – You are invited to our “Come & See” vocation weekend! There are 4 vocation weekends each academic year at the Dominican House of Studies. This is the first and it always is full, so plan ahead if you would like to come! HERE is important info about the weekend.

PAST SUMMER 2014 EVENTS:
May 23 (Friday) – Ordinations to the Priesthood (Washington DC) CLICK HERE – join us in our nation’s capital at 9:30AM for the ordinations to the priesthood of 7 of our friars at St. Dominic’s Church, 630 E St., SW Washington DC 20024. A luncheon reception follows at the Dominican House of Studies…and later that evening vocation candidates are invited to a special reception for the ordinandi, their families and friends of our friars from 7-9PM (ends with compline). During this reception our friars will provide LIVE entertainment with Jazz, Irish and Bluegrass music. Their photos/names CLICK HERE.
May 31 (Saturday) – New York City Vocation Event (Manhattan) CLICK HERE – join our friars in the Big Apple at our provincial headquarters, St. Vincent Ferrer priory, 869 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10065. Starts at 4PM with a tour of the church, followed by 5PM Vespers and a cookout with the friars of St. Vincent Ferrer, St. Catherine of Siena and St. Joseph in the Village.
June 3 (Tuesday) – New England Vocation Event (Providence) CLICK HERE – join our friars at Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island at St. Thomas Aquinas Priory (on campus). Starts at 4:30PM with a tour of PC campus & St. Pius V parish (across street) followed by 5:30PM Vespers in the priory chapel and a cookout with the friars. After dinner, Fr. Justin Brophy OP, Assistant Chaplain at Providence College will speak on “Dominican Campus Ministry at PC.” Men traveling a distance are welcome to spend the night the evening of June 3.
August 3 (Sunday) – Ohio Vocation Event (Columbus) CLICK HERE – join our friars for a Dominican Rite Missa Cantata for the Solemnity of our Holy Father Saint Dominic (old calendar) at St. Patrick Church in Columbus, Ohio. The Mass will be at 3PM. The Mass is open to the public. For men considering a vocation there will be dinner and vespers following the Mass with our friars, please RSVP to the Director of Vocations.
